New Search and Forum Features

Over the past month I have been testing our new Search page here on ImAFish. The general response has been very positive in that ImAFish is providing a fun and friendly way to search Google.

I’m always looking for ways to improve ImAFish so any suggestions are always welcome. I hope to grow the search facility in the future as it’s a useful service and a source of revenue (even though searching is free!).

The unframed search page for your browser homepage is also proving very popular as a Google replacement. So if you haven’t already changed it to your homepage it’s a great alternative!

The Forum reached 4 years old on Tuesday and has recently received a couple of new features including the “Quick Reply” (the box at the bottom of each topic to save you clicking the reply button), the birthdays reminder and a RSS feed.

The RSS feed will let you “subscribe” to the forum so that you can automatically see new posts. If you have a news reader or web browser such as Firefox or Safari you can easily subscribe to the forum.

To subscribe in Firefox:

1. Click the Bookmarks menu (top middle) > Manage Bookmarks (third item down)

The Bookmark Manager will open.

2. Click File (top left) > New Live Bookmark (second item)

3. Paste http://www.imafish.co.uk/forum/rss.php into feed location add a name as ImAFish.

4. In the Bookmarks window drag your new Live “ImAFish” Bookmark to the Bookmark Toolbar Folder.

5. Exit Bookmark Manager.

(You may need to enable the bookmark bar – View > Toolbars > Bookmark Toolbar

It should then update with the new Forum posts.
